Blum Video With Text
Theme: Blum · Section type: All-template section
The Video with text section shows a video next to a heading, description, and up to 2 buttons. Customers see a thumbnail with a play button and start the video when they want, with sound and player controls. Use it for product demos, tutorials, or brand stories.
Note: You can add this section to any template, except the header and footer.

- Fix common problems
Add the section and your video
- In the theme editor, open the template where you want the section.
- In the left sidebar, click Add section > Video with text.
- Under Video, paste a YouTube or Vimeo link in External video, or select a Shopify-hosted video. If you add both, the Shopify-hosted video is used.
- Enter a Video alt text that describes the video for customers who use screen readers.
- Choose the Aspect ratio: 16:9 or 4:3.
- Click Save.
Add a thumbnail and choose how the video plays
- Under Video, select a Video thumbnail. Use an image with the same ratio as the video, so it isn't cropped.
- Turn Enable video loop on to replay the video when it ends.
- Turn Enable video mute on to start the video without sound.
- Click Save.
Add the text and buttons
- Under Text, enter a Subheading, Heading, and Description.
- Under Buttons, enter a Primary button label and Primary button link. Add a secondary button the same way, or clear a label to hide that button.
- Under Layout, choose the Content ordering on desktop: Video first or Text first.
- Click Save.
What customers see
- Before playing: the thumbnail with a play button. If you don't add a thumbnail, a placeholder image shows.
- After clicking play: the video loads in place and starts playing, with the player controls.
- Desktop: the video and text sit side by side, in the order you chose.
- Phones: the video always shows above the text.

Troubleshooting
My YouTube link doesn't play.
A Shopify-hosted video replaces the external video. Remove the Shopify-hosted video if you want to use the YouTube or Vimeo link.
The thumbnail is cropped.
The thumbnail fills the video area. Use an image with the same ratio as the Aspect ratio you chose, for example 1920 x 1080 px for 16:9.
I want the video to play on its own, without a click.
Video with text waits for a click. For a background video that starts on its own, use Video banner.
