Blum All-Template Sections

Theme: Blum · Section type: Overview

All-template sections are sections you can add to any page template, for example a Slideshow on the homepage or a Testimonials section on a product page. Blum also has section groups (Header, Footer, and Overlay) that appear on every page of your store.

Note: Template-based sections, such as Product details or Collection products, belong to one template only. See the article Template-based section.

Understand section groups and template sections

Every page in Blum has 4 areas, from top to bottom:

Area

What it holds

Header group

The Announcement bar and the Header. Shows on every page.

Template

The sections of the page's template, for example the homepage or the product template. Each template has its own sections.

Footer group

The Footer. Shows on every page.

Overlay group

Popups that open over the page: Newsletter popup, Quick search, and Age verification. Works on every page.

A change in a section group shows on every page. A change in a template shows on every page that uses that template.

Add an all-template section

  1. In the theme editor, open the template where you want the section, for example Home page.
  2. In the left sidebar, under Template, click Add section.
  3. Select a section, for example Image banner.
  4. Set up the section.
  5. Click Save.

Tip: To add a section to only one product or page, create a new template for it first. See the article Blum Templates.

  1. In the theme editor, open any page.
  2. In the left sidebar, click a section under Header, Footer, or Overlay.
  3. Change its settings. To hide a popup, click the eye icon next to it.
  4. Click Save.

What customers see

  • Header group: the announcement bar and the header show at the top of every page.
  • Template sections: the sections of each template show between the header and the footer, in the order you set.
  • Footer group: the footer shows at the bottom of every page.
  • Overlay group: popups open over the page, for example the newsletter popup after a delay, or quick search when customers click the search icon.

Troubleshooting

I can't add a section to the header or footer.
Most sections can't be added to the Header or Footer group. Add them to a template instead, right above or below the content you want.

I added a section to a product page and it shows on every product.
All products that use the same template share its sections. Create a new product template and assign it to that product.

I can't find the Popup section.
The old Popup section is replaced by the Newsletter popup in the Overlay group. See the article Blum Popup.
