# Shine Text

**Theme:** Shine · **Section type:** All-template section

The Text section adds a block of text with no image: a subheading, a heading, a description, buttons, and a countdown timer. Use it to introduce a page, share your brand story, or announce a limited-time offer.

> **Note:** You can add this section to any template, but not to the header or footer. The section comes with 1 of each block: Subheading, Heading, Description, Buttons, and Countdown timer.

## Add the section and your text
1. In the theme editor, open the template where you want the section.
2. In the left sidebar, click **Add section** > **Text**.
3. Click the **Subheading** block and enter the **Text**.
4. Click the **Heading** block, enter the **Text**, and choose a **Heading size**: **Headline**, **H1**, **H2**, or **H3**.
5. Click the **Description** block and enter the **Text**.
6. Click **Save**.

The blocks show in the order they have in the sidebar. Drag a block to move it, or click **Add block** to add another Subheading, Heading, Description, Buttons, or Countdown timer block. Remove the blocks you don't need.

> **Tip:** To make words in the heading stand out, put them between square brackets, for example: Made for \[everyday] wear. Choose the style in **Theme settings** > **Typography** > **Highlighted heading style**.

## Add buttons
1. Click the **Buttons** block.
2. Under **Button 1**, enter a **Label**, choose a **Style**, and add a **Link**.
3. Optional: under **Button 2**, do the same for a second button.
4. Click **Save**.

A button with an empty **Label** is hidden. To show only one button, leave the other label empty.

## Add a countdown timer
1. Click the **Countdown timer** block.
2. Enter an **End date** in the format YYYY-MM-DD.
3. Optional: enter an **End time** (HH:MM, 24-hour clock).
4. Enter the **End text** to show when the countdown ends, or leave it empty to show nothing.
5. Choose whether to **Hide the countdown when it ends**.
6. Click **Save**.

> **Caution:** If you leave **End date** empty, the countdown ends at midnight tonight. Always enter the end date of your offer, and remove the block after the offer ends.

## Align the text
1. Click the **Text** section.
2. Under **Large screen**, set **Text alignment** to **Left** or **Center**.
3. Under **Mobile screen**, set **Text alignment** to **Left** or **Center**.
4. Click **Save**.

## What customers see
- **The text:** the blocks show from top to bottom in your order, aligned left or center.
- **Buttons:** customers click a button to open its link. Buttons sit side by side and wrap onto a new line on small screens.
- **Countdown:** the countdown shows days, hours, minutes, and seconds until the end date. When it ends, customers see the end text, or the countdown is hidden if you chose that.
- **Mobile:** the text uses the mobile alignment you chose.

## Settings reference
### General
| Setting | What it does |
| ---- | ---- |
| Color schemes | Sets the section colors. Color schemes are set in Theme settings > Colors. |

### Large screen / Mobile screen
| Setting | What it does |
| ---- | ---- |
| Text alignment | Aligns all blocks Left or Center. Large screen and Mobile screen have separate settings. |

### Subheading block
| Setting | What it does |
| ---- | ---- |
| Text | Sets the short line shown above or below the heading, depending on block order. |

### Heading block
| Setting | What it does |
| ---- | ---- |
| Text | Sets the heading. To highlight words, put them between [ and ]. |
| Heading size | Sets the heading size: Headline (the largest), H1, H2, or H3. |

### Description block
| Setting | What it does |
| ---- | ---- |
| Text | Sets the paragraph text. You can add bold, italic, and links. |

### Buttons block
| Setting | What it does |
| ---- | ---- |
| Label (Button 1) | Sets the first button text. The button is hidden if the label is empty. |
| Style (Button 1) | Shows the first button as Filled, Outlined, or Text link. |
| Link (Button 1) | Sets the page the first button opens. |
| Label (Button 2) | Sets the second button text. The button is hidden if the label is empty. |
| Style (Button 2) | Shows the second button as Filled, Outlined, or Text link. |
| Link (Button 2) | Sets the page the second button opens. |

### Countdown timer block
| Setting | What it does |
| ---- | ---- |
| Hide the countdown when it ends | Hides the countdown after the end date and time. |
| End date | Sets the end date in the format YYYY-MM-DD. If you leave it empty, midnight tonight is used. |
| End time (optional) | Sets the end time in the format HH:MM (24-hour clock). |
| End text | Shows a message when the countdown ends. Hidden if empty. |
| Countdown background | Sets the background color of the countdown. |
| Countdown number | Sets the color of the countdown numbers. |
| End text (Custom color) | Sets the color of the end text. |

## Troubleshooting
**My button doesn't show.**
The button's **Label** is empty. Enter a label in the **Buttons** block.

**The countdown shows zero or "Event is finished".**
The **End date** is empty or in the past. Enter a future date in the format YYYY-MM-DD, or remove the Countdown timer block.

**The text is in the wrong order.**
Blocks show in the order of the sidebar. Drag the blocks into the order you want.
