# Shine Search Page

**Theme:** Shine · **Section type:** Search page section

The Search page section shows search results on your store's search page, with a search box, result tabs for products, blog posts, and pages, and product filters and sorting. Use it to help customers find what they are looking for and add products to the cart from the results.

> **Note:** This section is part of the search template. You can't add it with **Add section**, but you can hide it. You can add other sections to the search template around it.

## Show blog posts and pages in the results
Products always appear in the results. You choose in the theme settings if blog posts and pages appear too.

1. In the theme editor, click **Theme settings** > **Search**.
2. Under **Search results**, check **Blog posts**, **Pages**, or both.
3. Click **Save**.

When at least one of them is on, the results page shows tabs: **Products**, **Blog posts**, and **Pages**, each with the number of results.

> **Note:** The same **Search** group sets the image ratio of product and blog post results, and what customers see in the search bar while they type (**Predictive search results**).

## Set how many results load and how
1. In the theme editor, open the search template (**Search**).
2. In the left sidebar, click **Search page**.
3. Under **General**, choose **Items per load**: 20, 30, 40, or 50 results.
4. Choose a **Load result method**:
   - **Pagination** shows page numbers below the results.
   - **Button** shows a load more button that adds the next results.
   - **Infinity scroll** loads the next results when customers scroll to the end.
5. Click **Save**.

## Set up filters and sorting
Filters come from Shopify's **Search & Discovery** app, the same as on collection pages. They apply to product results.

1. Click **Search page**.
2. Under **Filter and sort**, check **Enable product filter** and **Enable sort**.
3. Optional: check **Expand all filter options by default** to open every filter group when the page loads.
4. Under **Large screen**, choose a **Filter and sort layout**: Sidebar, Topbar, or Drawer.
5. Click **Save**.

## Let customers add products from the results
1. Click **Search page**.
2. Under **Product card**, choose a **Quick shop action**: Quick add, Quick view, Both, or Not use.
3. If you chose Quick add or Both, choose a **Quick buy mode**:
   - **Standard (variant picker)** opens a small window where customers pick a variant and add it to the cart.
   - **Bulk order (all variants)** opens a table where customers enter a quantity for each variant at once.
4. Optional: check **Show vendor** and **Show variant swatches**.
5. Click **Save**.

> **Note:** The card style (image ratio, second image on hover, quick buy button style) comes from **Theme settings** > **Product card**. You style the quick shop window in **Theme settings** > **Quick shop**.

## Choose what blog post cards show
1. Click **Search page**.
2. Under **Blog post card**, check what each blog post result shows: **Show featured image**, **Show blog's tags**, **Show published date**, **Show author**, and **Show excerpt**.
3. Click **Save**.

## Choose the layout on large screens and phones
1. Click **Search page**.
2. Under **Large screen**, choose the **Default columns per row**: 3, 4, or 6.
3. Under **Mobile screen**, choose the **Default columns per row**: 1 or 2.
4. Optional: under **General**, check **Allow user to switch number of columns** to show grid buttons on the Products tab.
5. Click **Save**.

## What customers see
- **Search box:** the page opens with a search box that holds the search terms. Customers can change the terms and search again.
- **Result tabs:** **Products**, **Blog posts**, and **Pages** with the number of results in each. Customers click a tab to see that type of result. The tabs appear only when blog posts or pages are turned on in **Theme settings** > **Search**.
- **Products tab:** the number of products, the column buttons, **Sort by**, and the filters, then the product grid. Customers can add products with quick add or open quick view.
- **Blog posts tab:** blog post cards with the parts you turned on under **Blog post card**.
- **Pages tab:** a list of page titles. Customers click a title to open the page.
- **No results:** a message tells customers that nothing matches their search.
- **Phones:** the filters open in a drawer from the **Filter** button, and the product grid uses the **Mobile screen** columns.

## Troubleshooting
**The Blog posts and Pages tabs don't show.**
Turn on **Blog posts** or **Pages** under **Theme settings** > **Search** > **Search results**. If both are off, the page shows only products, without tabs.

**The filters don't show.**
Check that **Enable product filter** is on and that filters are set up in the **Search & Discovery** app. Filters show only for product results.

**The Quick buy mode setting is missing.**
**Quick buy mode** appears only when **Quick shop action** is Quick add or Both.

**The search bar shows different results from the search page.**
The search bar uses **Predictive search results** in **Theme settings** > **Search**, and the search page uses **Search results**. Turn on the same options in both groups.
