Shine Popup

Theme: Shine · Section type: Theme-wide section (every page)

The Popup section shows a small window in the bottom corner of your store. Use it to collect newsletter sign-ups or to promote an offer with a countdown and a button.

Note: The Popup section holds 1 block: either Email signup or Content promotion. It is part of every page, so you set it up once for the whole store.

What you can do

  • Turn on the popup and choose its type
  • Choose when and where the popup appears
  • Collect email sign-ups
  • Promote an offer with a countdown and a button
  • See what customers see
  • Change the popup settings
  • Fix common problems

Turn on the popup and choose its type

  1. In the theme editor, scroll to the bottom of the left sidebar and click Popup.
  2. If the section has no block yet, click Add block and choose Email signup or Content promotion.
  3. Click the block and select Enable popup.
  4. Optional: select Show only for non-login visitors to hide the popup from customers who are logged in to their account.
  5. Click Save.

Tip: To switch from one popup type to the other, remove the current block and add the other one. The section holds only 1 block.

Choose when and where the popup appears

  1. In the Popup block, go to Trigger.
  2. Set Popup position to Bottom left or Bottom right.
  3. Set Visibility to the pages where the popup can appear.
  4. Choose When to show.
  5. If you chose Time on page, drag Show after to set the delay.
  6. Click Save.

Setting

What it does

Popup position

Places the popup in the Bottom left or Bottom right corner of the screen.

Visibility

Shows the popup on All pages, or only on the Home page, Product pages, Collection pages, or the Cart page.

When to show

Opens the popup when the customer scrolls to the footer (Reaching the footer), after a delay (Time on page), or after the customer closes the cart notification (After closing cart notification).

Show after

Sets the delay for Time on page, from 0 to 30 seconds in steps of 5 seconds. It has no effect with the other triggers.

Note: After a customer closes the popup, it doesn't appear again until they start a new browser session.

Collect email sign-ups

  1. Add an Email signup block and select Enable popup.
  2. Under Image, select an Image and choose an Image position: Above text or Behind text.
  3. Under Text, enter a Subheading, a Heading, and a Description. Choose a Heading size from H6 to H3.
  4. Enter the Submit button label.
  5. Click Save.

Customers enter their email address and click the button. The address is added to your customer list in the Shopify admin, tagged "newsletter".

Tip: Say what customers get for signing up in the heading, for example a discount on their first order.

Promote an offer with a countdown and a button

  1. Add a Content promotion block and select Enable popup.
  2. Under Image and Text, add an image, a Subheading, a Heading, and a Description. Choose a Heading size from H6 to H3.
  3. Under Countdown timer, select Enable countdown timer and enter an End date in the format YYYY-MM-DD.
  4. Optional: enter an End time (HH:MM, 24-hour clock) and an End text to show when the countdown ends.
  5. Enter the Submit button label, choose a Style, and add a Link.
  6. Click Save.

Caution: If you leave End date empty, the countdown ends at midnight tonight. Always enter the date of your offer.

What customers see

  • Opening: the popup slides in at the bottom left or bottom right corner when the trigger you chose happens.
  • Email signup: customers type their email and click the button. A success message appears in the popup after they subscribe.
  • Content promotion: customers see your text, the countdown (days, hours, minutes, seconds), and the button. The button opens your link.
  • Closing: customers close the popup with the close button. It stays closed for the rest of their browser session.
  • Logged-in customers: if Show only for non-login visitors is on, customers who are logged in never see the popup.

Troubleshooting

The popup doesn't appear on my store.
Check that Enable popup is selected in the block, that Visibility includes the page you are on, and that the trigger has happened (for example, scroll to the footer). If you closed the popup earlier, open your store in a new private window: a closed popup stays hidden for the browser session.

I can't add a second popup.
The Popup section holds 1 block. Choose either Email signup or Content promotion.

The popup shows in the theme editor but customers say they see it only once.
This is expected. In the theme editor the popup always shows, so you can edit it. On the live store it stays closed after a customer closes it, until their next browser session.

The countdown already shows zero.
End date is empty or in the past. Enter a future date in the format YYYY-MM-DD.

I want a newsletter popup that customers can reopen from a small tab.
Use the Newsletter popup section instead. It has its own layout, frequency, and sticky popup settings.
