Shine Password Page

Theme: Shine · Section type: Password page section

The Password page section is what visitors see while your store is password protected, for example before launch. It shows your logo, a message, an email sign-up form, and your social media links over an optional background image.

Note: This section is part of the password template. The password page has no header or footer. Each block can be added once: Logo, Subheading, Heading, Description, Newsletter, and Social media.

What you can do

  • Turn on the password page and open it in the theme editor
  • Add your logo and message
  • Collect emails and show social media links
  • Add a background image and overlay colors
  • See what customers see
  • Look up every setting in "Settings reference"
  • Fix common problems

Turn on the password page and open it in the theme editor

  1. In the Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Preferences.
  2. Under Password protection, turn on the password, set a password, and enter an optional message for your visitors.
  3. Click Save.
  4. In the theme editor, open the template selector at the top of the page and click Others > Password.
  5. In the left sidebar, click Password page.

Add your logo and message

  1. Under Password page, click the Logo block and select a Logo image. A 280 x 80 px .png works well.
  2. Drag Max width on large screen (40 to 200 px) and Max width on mobile (40 to 140 px) to size the logo.
  3. Click the Subheading block and enter the Text.
  4. Click the Heading block, enter the Text, and choose a Heading size: Headline, H1, H2, or H3.
  5. Click the Description block and enter your message in Richtext.
  6. Drag the blocks to change their order.
  7. Click Save.

Tip: If you don't select a logo image, the Logo block shows your store name as text.

  1. Click the Newsletter block.
  2. Enter the Submit button label, for example "Notify me", and choose a Style: Filled, Outlined, or Text link.
  3. Click the Social media block and enter a Heading, for example "Follow us".
  4. Choose a Social media button style: Filled button or Ghost button.
  5. Click Save.

Note: The Social media block shows the accounts you added in Theme settings > Social media.

Add a background image and overlay colors

  1. Click Password page.
  2. Under Image, select a Background image. A 2880 x 1200 px .jpg works well.
  3. Optional: select a Mobile background image (750 x 1100 px .jpg). If you don't add one, phones show the main image.
  4. Under Custom color, pick a Mask overlay color and drag Overlay opacity (0 % to 90 %) to darken or tint the image.
  5. Pick a Text overlay color so the text stays easy to read on the image.
  6. Click Save.

Note: The Custom color settings apply only when the section has a background image.

What customers see

  • Password page: your store message from Preferences at the top, then your logo, heading, description, sign-up form, and social media icons in the center of the page.
  • Sign-up form: visitors enter their email and click the submit button. A message confirms the sign-up.
  • Footer: "This shop will be powered by Shopify", an Enter using password link, and a Login here link for the store owner.
  • Enter using password: opens a popup where visitors type the store password and click Enter.
  • Phones: the mobile background image and the mobile logo width apply.
