## Add the section and set up the form
1. In the theme editor, open the template where you want the section.
2. In the left sidebar, click **Add section** > **Form: Newsletter**.
3. Enter a **Section subheading**, a **Section heading**, and a **Section description**.
4. Choose a **Heading size** from H2 to H5.
5. Enter the **Submit button** label.
6. Click **Save**.

Customers who subscribe are added to your customer list in the Shopify admin, tagged "newsletter".

> **Tip:** Tell customers what they get for signing up, for example "10% off your first order", and how often you send emails.

## Highlight words in the heading
1. In **Section heading**, put the words you want to stand out between square brackets, for example: Join our \[inner circle].
2. To choose how highlighted words look, click **Theme settings** > **Typography** and choose a **Highlighted heading style**: **Highlighted font**, **Highlighted color**, or **Highlighted underline**.
3. Click **Save**.

## Add an image and choose the layout
1. Under **Image**, select an **Image**. Without an image, the text and form show in a narrower column.
2. Under **Large screen**, set **Section ordering** to **Text first** or **Image first**.
3. Under **Mobile screen**, set **Section ordering** to choose whether the text or the image comes first on small screens.
4. Click **Save**.

## What customers see
- **Large screens:** the text and form sit next to the image, in the order you chose.
- **Mobile:** the text and the image stack on top of each other.
- **Signing up:** customers type their email address and click the button. If the address isn't valid, an error message appears below the field. After a successful sign-up, a success message appears below the form.

## Troubleshooting
**I can't find the section when I add a section to the header.**
The Form: Newsletter section can't be added to the header. Add it to a template or to the footer.

**The square brackets show in my heading.**
Brackets turn into highlighted text only in the **Section heading** field. Check that you used square brackets \[ ] and that both brackets are there.

**I don't see the new subscribers.**
In the Shopify admin, go to **Customers** and filter by the tag "newsletter" or by email subscription status.
