# Shine Customer Reviews

**Theme:** Shine · **Section type:** All-template section

The Customer reviews section shows your customers' reviews as cards that scroll across the page in a continuous row. Each card can have an avatar, the author's name and title, a star rating, and the review text.

> **Note:** You can add this section to any template, but not to the header or footer. Each section holds up to 5 reviews. The section comes with 5 reviews.

## Add the section and your reviews
1. In the theme editor, open the template where you want the section.
2. In the left sidebar, click **Add section** > **Customer reviews**.
3. Enter a **Section subheading**, a **Section heading**, and a **Section description**, and choose a **Heading size**.
4. Click a **Review** block. Select an **Avatar**, and enter the **Author**, an **Author title**, and the **Content**.
5. Set the **Star rating** from 1 to 5.
6. To add more reviews, click **Add block** > **Review**.
7. Click **Save**.

> **Tip:** Use square images for avatars. They are shown in a small circle next to the author's name.

## Control the scrolling
1. Click the **Customer reviews** section.
2. Under **General**, set the **Speed**: **Very slow**, **Slow**, **Normal**, or **Fast**.
3. Set the **Moving direction**: **Right to left** or **Left to right**.
4. Optional: select **Show play/pause button** so customers can stop the scrolling.
5. Click **Save**.

> **Tip:** Keep the play/pause button on. It lets customers stop the cards to read a long review.

## Style the review cards
1. Under **Customer review item**, choose a **Content font** (**Body** or **Heading**) and a **Content text size** (**Regular** or **Large**).
2. Select **Enable item background** to give each card a border and your own colors.
3. Set the **Background** and **Content** colors. These colors work only when **Enable item background** is on.
4. Select **Show star rating** and choose a **Star rating** color.
5. Click **Save**.

## What customers see
- **Scrolling cards:** the review cards move across the screen in a continuous loop, in the direction and speed you chose. The reviews repeat so the row never ends.
- **Play/pause button:** if it's on, customers click it below the cards to stop or restart the scrolling.
- **Stars:** each card shows filled stars for its rating and empty stars for the rest of 5.
- **Mobile:** the cards keep scrolling. Each card is narrower, so customers see about one card at a time.

## Settings reference
### General
| Setting | What it does |
| ---- | ---- |
| Color scheme | Sets the section colors. Color schemes are set in Theme settings > Colors. |
| Section subheading | Adds a short line above the heading. |
| Section heading | Adds the section heading. To highlight words, put them between [ and ] and choose the style in Theme settings > Typography. |
| Heading size | Sets the heading size: H2, H3, H4, or H5. |
| Section description | Adds a short text below the heading. |
| Speed | Sets how fast the cards move: Very slow, Slow, Normal, or Fast. |
| Moving direction | Moves the cards Right to left or Left to right. |
| Show play/pause button | Shows a button that stops and restarts the scrolling. |

### Customer review item
| Setting | What it does |
| ---- | ---- |
| Content font | Uses the Body font or the Heading font for the review text. |
| Content text size | Shows the review text in Regular or Large size. |
| Enable item background | Adds a border to each card and turns on the Background and Content colors. |
| Background | Sets the card background color. Works only with Enable item background. |
| Content | Sets the card text color. Works only with Enable item background. |
| Show star rating | Shows the star rating on each card. |
| Star rating | Sets the color of the stars. |

### Large screen / Mobile screen
| Setting | What it does |
| ---- | ---- |
| Section heading position | Aligns the section heading Left or Center. Large screen and Mobile screen have separate settings. |

### Review block
| Setting | What it does |
| ---- | ---- |
| Avatar | Adds a photo next to the author's name. Use a square image. |
| Star rating | Sets the number of filled stars, from 1 to 5. |
| Author | Sets the reviewer's name. |
| Author title | Adds a short line under the name, for example a job title or "Verified buyer". |
| Content | Sets the review text. |

## Troubleshooting
**I can't add a sixth review.**
Each section holds up to 5 reviews. Add a second Customer reviews section for more.

**My card colors don't change.**
The **Background** and **Content** colors work only when **Enable item background** is selected.

**The stars don't show.**
Select **Show star rating** under **Customer review item**.

**Customers can't stop the scrolling.**
Select **Show play/pause button** under **General**.
