Shine Collection List

Theme: Shine · Section type: All-template section

A Collection list section shows the collections you pick as image cards, in a grid or a carousel. It helps customers jump straight to the product groups they care about, such as categories or seasonal edits.

Note: You can add this section to any template. It isn't available in the header or footer.

What you can do

  • Add the section and choose the collections
  • Place the heading beside the collections
  • Add a button that opens all collections
  • See what customers see
  • Look up every setting in "Settings reference"
  • Fix common problems

Add the section and choose the collections

  1. In the theme editor, open the template where you want the section.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Add section > Collection list.
  3. Under General, enter a Section subheading, Section heading, and Section description. Leave a field empty to hide it.
  4. Under Collections, click Select collections, choose the collections, and click Select. The cards show in the order you set.
  5. Under Large screen and Mobile screen, choose a List style (Grid or Carousel) and the Columns per row.
  6. Click Save.

Tip: The card style (image ratio, text position, overlay, product count) is the same for every collection card in your store. You change it in Theme settings > Collection card.

Place the heading beside the collections

  1. Click Collection list.
  2. Under Large screen, set Section heading position to Inline.
  3. Click Save.

With Inline, the heading, description, and button sit in a column on the left, and the collections fill the rest of the row. On phones, the heading always shows above the collections.

Note: Inline takes up one column. With 4 Columns per row, for example, the heading uses one column and 3 collections show beside it. If the subheading, heading, and description are all empty, the collections use the full width.

Add a button that opens all collections

  1. Click Collection list.
  2. Under Button, check Enable "View all" button.
  3. Enter the button text in Label. If you leave it empty, the button is hidden.
  4. Choose a Style: Filled, Outlined, or Text link.
  5. Click Save.

Note: The button links to your collections page (/collections), which lists all your collections. It shows only when the section has a subheading, heading, or description.

What customers see

  • Collection cards: each card shows the collection image and title. If a collection has no image, the card uses the image of its first product. Customers click anywhere on a card to open the collection.
  • Carousel: customers swipe or use the arrows to see more collections.
  • Inline heading: on large screens, the heading and button sit beside the collections. On phones, they move above the collections, and the button moves below them.
  • Phones: the collections use the Mobile screen layout, for example 2 cards per row.

Troubleshooting

The section shows grey placeholder cards.
No collections are selected. Select collections under Collections.

The "View all" button doesn't show.
Check that Enable "View all" button is on and Label isn't empty. The button also needs a Section subheading, Section heading, or Section description.

The "View all" button doesn't open one of my collections.
The button always links to your collections page (all collections). Customers open a single collection by clicking its card.

A collection card shows the wrong image.
The card uses the collection image. If the collection has none, it uses the first product's image. Add a collection image in Products > Collections in your Shopify admin.
