Electro How to Use Electro Text Section

Theme: Electro · Section type: All-template section

A Text section shows a short block of text, such as a subheading, a heading, a description, a countdown timer, and up to 2 buttons, with no image. Use it to introduce a page, share your brand story, or announce a sale.

Note: You can add this section to any template, except the header and footer. Each section holds 1 Countdown timer block and 1 Buttons block. You can add as many Subheading, Heading, and Description blocks as you need.

What you can do

  • Add the section and your text
  • Add a countdown timer or buttons
  • See what customers see
  • Change the color scheme and alignment
  • Fix common problems

Add the section and your text

  1. In the theme editor, open the template where you want the section.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Add section > Text. The section comes with a Subheading, a Heading, a Description, and a Buttons block.
  3. Click each block and enter your text in Text.
  4. In the Heading block, choose a Text size.
  5. To change the order of the text, drag the blocks up or down in the left sidebar.
  6. To remove a block you don't need, click it and then click Remove block.
  7. Click Save.

Tip: Blocks appear on the storefront in the same order as in the sidebar. Put the subheading above the heading so it reads like a short tagline.

Add a countdown timer or buttons

  1. In the left sidebar, under Text, click Add block > Countdown timer or Buttons.
  2. For a countdown, enter the End date in YYYY-MM-DD format. Optional: enter an End time in HH:MM (24-hour clock) format.
  3. For buttons, enter a Label and a Link for Button 1, and choose a Style. Do the same for Button 2 if you want a second button.
  4. Click Save.

Note: A button with an empty Label is hidden. If the label is filled but the Link is empty, the button doesn't go anywhere.

For all countdown options, see "Countdown timer" in the Settings reference below and the Electro Countdown timer article.

What customers see

  • Text: the blocks appear in a single column, in the order you set in the sidebar. The whole column is aligned left or centered, depending on Content alignment.
  • Countdown timer: shows the time left until the end date. When it ends, the timer hides or shows your End text, depending on your settings.
  • Buttons: Button 1 and Button 2 appear side by side and wrap to a new line on narrow screens.
  • Mobile: the same blocks appear in the same order, with smaller text sizes.

Troubleshooting

My button doesn't show.
The button's Label is empty. Open the Buttons block and enter a Label for Button 1 or Button 2.

I can't add a second countdown or a second Buttons block.
Each Text section holds 1 Countdown timer block and 1 Buttons block. The Buttons block already holds 2 buttons. To show more, add another Text section.

The countdown ends at the wrong time.
Check that End date uses YYYY-MM-DD and End time uses the 24-hour clock, for example 18:00. If End date is empty, the countdown ends at midnight tonight.

The heading is too big on mobile.
Choose a smaller Text size in the Heading block, such as H2 or H3 instead of Headline.
