Electro How to Use Electro Running Text Section

Theme: Electro · Section type: All-template section

A Running text section scrolls a line of short messages and small images across the page, like a ticker. Use it for announcements such as free shipping, new arrivals, or a sale.

Note: Each section holds up to 6 blocks: up to 3 Text blocks and up to 3 Image blocks. The section is hidden when it has no blocks.

What you can do

  • Add the section and your messages
  • Add images between the messages
  • Change the speed, direction, and text size
  • Link the running text to a page
  • See what customers see
  • Look up every setting
  • Fix common problems

Add the section and your messages

  1. In the theme editor, open the template where you want the section.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Add section > Running text. The section comes with 2 Text blocks and 2 Image blocks.
  3. Click a Text block and enter the Text.
  4. Optional: choose a Custom text color, or a Custom text gradient for a color gradient.
  5. To add a message, click Add block > Text. To change the order, drag the blocks in the sidebar.
  6. Click Save.

Tip: Keep each message short. About 3 words per Text block reads best while it moves.

Add images between the messages

  1. In the left sidebar, under Running text, click Add block > Image.
  2. Select an Image.
  3. Drag Height to set how tall the image is, from 16 px to 120 px.
  4. Drag the Image block between the Text blocks where you want it.
  5. Click Save.

Tip: Use small images with a transparent or plain background, such as product cut-outs or icons, so they sit neatly between the words.

Change the speed, direction, and text size

  1. Click the Running text section.
  2. Choose a Speed and a Moving direction.
  3. Choose a Text size.
  4. Turn Enable pause when hover on or off.
  5. Click Save.

  1. Click the Running text section.
  2. In Link, select or paste the page you want to open.
  3. Click Save.

Note: The link covers the whole strip and opens in a new browser tab.

What customers see

  • All screen sizes: the messages and images move across the page in a continuous loop, in the direction you chose. The blocks repeat so the strip is always full.
  • Hover: on a computer, the strip stops while the pointer is over it, if Enable pause when hover is on.
  • Mobile: the strip keeps moving at the same speed. Fewer messages fit on screen at once.
  • After a click: if you added a link, clicking anywhere on the strip opens the page in a new tab.

Troubleshooting

I can't add another Text or Image block.
A Running text section holds up to 3 Text blocks and 3 Image blocks, 6 blocks in total. Add a second Running text section for more.

The section disappeared from my page.
The section is hidden when it has no blocks. Add at least one Text or Image block.

My text color doesn't change.
A Custom text gradient overrides the Custom text color. Clear the gradient to use a single color.

I want each message to link to a different page.
The running text has one Link for the whole strip. To send customers to different pages, use separate Running text sections.
