# Electro How to Use Electro Gift Card Template

**Theme:** Electro · **Section type:** Template (Gift card)

The gift card page is the page customers see when they open a gift card from their email. It shows the gift card value and code, so they can copy the code, print the card, or go straight to your store. In the theme you can change the page colors; the gift card itself is created in Shopify admin.

> **Note:** The gift card page has one section, **Gift card**, with one setting. Customers can only open the page from the link in a gift card email, so it has no public URL to share.

## Change the colors of the gift card page

1. In the theme editor, open the template selector at the top and choose **Gift card**.
2. Click the **Gift card** section.
3. Choose a **Color scheme**.
4. Click **Save**.

> **Tip:** The page shows your store logo from the header. Check that the logo is easy to see on the color scheme you choose.

## Sell or send gift cards

Gift cards are created and sent in Shopify admin, not in the theme editor.

- **To sell gift cards:** in Shopify admin, go to **Products** > **Gift cards** and create a gift card product. Customers buy it like any other product. If the product page has a recipient form, customers can send it to someone else. See "How to use Electro Product template".
- **To issue a gift card yourself:** in Shopify admin, go to **Products** > **Gift cards** and click **Create gift card**. You can then send it to a customer.

## What customers see

- **Top:** your store logo and the heading "Your gift card".
- **Card:** a gift card image with the card's value. If the card is disabled or expired, "Expired" shows under the image.
- **Code:** the text "Use this code at checkout to redeem your gift card", the code, and a **Copy code** button. After copying, customers see "Code copied successfully".
- **Apple Wallet:** an **Add to Apple Wallet** button, when Shopify offers it for the card.
- **QR code:** a QR code that customers can scan to redeem the card in store.
- **Buttons:** **Start shopping** opens your store in a new tab, and **Print** opens the browser's print window.

## Troubleshooting

**I can't preview my gift card page on the live store.**
The page only opens from a real gift card link. Use the theme editor preview to check your changes.

**The value on the gift card page doesn't match the remaining balance.**
The page shows the card's original value. Customers see the remaining balance at checkout.

**I want to change the text on the gift card page.**
The text comes from the theme language file. In Shopify admin, go to **Online Store** > **Themes**, click the **…** button next to Electro, then **Edit default theme content**, and search for "gift card".
