# Electro How to Modify Electro Product Detailed Specifications Settings

**Theme:** Electro · **Section type:** Product page section

The Detailed specifications section shows a product's technical details, such as dimensions, weight or battery life, from product metafields. It can also show download buttons for files like manuals or spec sheets. Because the values come from each product's metafields, one section works for all products that use the template.

> **Note:** This section is part of the default product template. It isn't listed in **Add section**, so hide it instead of removing it if you might want it back. Each section holds 1 Specifications block and 1 File download block.

## Set up the metafield namespace

The section reads metafields from one namespace that you set once for the whole theme.

1. In Shopify admin, create the product metafield definitions and fill in the values for your products. See "How to set up product metafield".
2. In the theme editor, click **Theme settings** > **Product information**.
3. Under **Specifications**, enter the **Metafield namespace** (for example custom).
4. Click **Save**.

> **Note:** This namespace is also used by the comparison sections. Only single-value metafields are supported, not list types.

## Show specifications on the product page

1. In the theme editor, open a product template.
2. Click the **Detailed specifications** section, then click the **Specifications** block.
3. In **Metafield keys**, enter the keys you want to show, separated by commas (for example height, width, depth). They show in this order.
4. Optional: select **Collapse specifications** to show each specification as a row that customers click to open.
5. Click **Save**.

Each key's name becomes the label: the key is written in capital letters and underscores become spaces. For example, product_type shows as PRODUCT TYPE and built_in_microphone shows as BUILT IN MICROPHONE.

> **Tip:** Name your metafield keys the way you want customers to read them, for example battery_life rather than bl.

## Add file download buttons

1. In Shopify admin, create a product metafield of type **File** for each download (for example user_manual) and upload a file for each product.
2. In the theme editor, click the **File download** block in the **Detailed specifications** section.
3. In **Metafield keys**, enter the File metafield keys, separated by commas.
4. Click **Save**.

Each file shows as a button labeled with the key name, for example USER MANUAL.

## What customers see

- **Specifications:** a list of labels and values for the product. True or false values show as a check mark or a cross, colors as a swatch, images as a picture, ratings as stars, and measurements with their unit. A metaobject value shows each of its fields with its own label.
- **Collapsed:** with **Collapse specifications**, each specification is a row with an arrow. Customers click a row to open it, and can open several at once.
- **Downloads:** each file is a button. Customers click it to open or download the file in a new tab.
- **Missing values:** a key with no value for the product is skipped. If the product has no values at all, the section shows only its heading and description.

### General

| Setting | What it does |

| Color scheme | Sets the colors of the section. |
| Heading | Sets the section heading. Leave it empty to hide it. |
| Heading size | Sets the heading size from H2 to H5. |
| Section description | Sets the text under the heading. |

## Troubleshooting

**The specifications don't show.**
Check that **Metafield namespace** is set in **Theme settings** > **Product information** and that the keys in the **Specifications** block match your metafield keys exactly. The product also needs values for those metafields.

**A specification is missing for one product.**
That product has no value for the key. Fill in the metafield on the product in Shopify admin.

**A list metafield doesn't show.**
Only single-value metafields are supported. Change the definition to a single value, or split it into separate keys.

**The download button doesn't show.**
The **File download** block only shows File metafields. Check that the metafield type is File and the product has a file uploaded.
