# Blum Activate Account Page

**Theme:** Blum · **Section type:** Template section (Customer account pages)

The Activate account page is where customers set a password for an account you created for them. They reach it from the account invitation email that Shopify sends.

> **Note:** This page is used only when your store uses legacy customer accounts. If your store uses new customer accounts, Shopify hosts the customer account pages and this theme template isn't used. You can check which version your store uses in your Shopify admin under **Settings** > **Customer accounts**.

**What you can do**
- Invite a customer to activate their account
- Open the Activate account template
- See what customers see
- Look up every setting
- Fix common problems

---

## Invite a customer to activate their account

1. In your Shopify admin, go to **Customers** and open the customer.
2. Send the customer an account invite.
3. The customer receives an email with a link to the Activate account page.

## Open the Activate account template

1. In the theme editor, open the template menu at the top and select the **Activate account** customer template.
2. In the left sidebar, click the **Activate account** section.
3. Under **General**, select a **Color scheme**.
4. Click **Save**.

> **Note:** The page needs the link from the invitation email, so the theme editor preview may not show real customer data.

## What customers see

- **Heading:** "Activate account" and the text "Create your password to activate your account."
- **Form:** a **Password** field and a **Confirm password** field.
- **Activate account:** saves the password, activates the account, and signs the customer in.
- **Decline invitation:** declines the invitation, and the account isn't activated.
- **Errors:** if the passwords don't match or don't meet Shopify's rules, the form shows a message and marks the field.

## Settings reference

### General

| Setting | What it does |
| ---- | ---- |
| Color scheme | Sets the colors of the page. You can edit color schemes in Theme settings > Colors. |

## Troubleshooting

**The activation link doesn't work anymore.**
Invitation links expire. Send the customer a new account invite from your Shopify admin.

**Customers see a different page after clicking the invitation link.**
Your store uses new customer accounts, so Shopify hosts the page. The theme's Activate account template is used only with legacy customer accounts.
